Information about Fees

Our fees are in line with the recommended fees by the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW). The AASW provides a Schedule of Suggested Fees as a guide for individual social workers working in private practice. The suggested rate is $289 per hour, reflecting both direct service time and associated non-billable tasks. The $289 hourly rate encompasses not only the time spent in client sessions but also the time spent preparing for and following up on sessions. It also covers the non-billable tasks that are essential for ethical and high-quality care. These include:

  • Session preparation (reviewing notes, planning interventions)
  • Post-session documentation (clinical notes, treatment updates)
  • Client communications (brief emails, texts, or calls)
  • Liaising with other professionals (GPs, schools, caseworkers)
  • Writing letters (when appropriate)
  • Practice overheads (rent, insurance, supervision, admin time)
  • Professional development (training and CPD to maintain currency)
  • This rate reflects the true cost of running a professional private practice while ensuring time and resources are used to support client care beyond just the face-to-face hour.
